Chicken Wire

Chicken wire, also known as poultry netting, is a type of wire mesh that is often used to contain poultry (such as chickens) in a coop or run. It is made of thin, flexible galvanized steel wire with hexagonal gaps. Chicken wire comes in 1⁄2-inch (about 1.3 cm), 1-inch (about 2.5 cm), and 2-inch (about 5 cm) diameters, and in a variety of gauges - usually 19-gauge (about 1 mm) to 22-gauge (about 0.7 mm). Chicken wire is occasionally used to build inexpensive fences for small animals (or to protect plants and property from animals), but the fineness and zinc content of the galvanized steel wire may not be suitable for chewing animals and will not deter predators.
